Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a major doubt for Monday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to miss the Merseyside derby after he suffered hamstring injury in their victory over League leader Arsenal last week.

The England international played just over an hour of last weekend’s win over Arsenal but afterwards manager Sean Dyche admitted it had been a risk as the player was struggling with a hamstring problem.

That has prevented him from training this week and puts his availability at Anfield in doubt.

“We’re still monitoring him. It will be touch and go, at best,” said Dyche. “We’re hoping it settles down as quickly as possible.

“He put a real shift in, his stats were very good in the last game and unfortunately he’s got a niggly hamstring and we’ve got to get on top of it as quick as we can.”

On the challenge facing Everton against Merseyside rivals Liverpool, Dyche said: “The city comes together for a massive game, my key marker is performance levels and parking the noise. Don’t let anything affect the build-up or planning.

“They have been on the up for a long time and it is difficult to constantly remodel, reenergise, they have done that well but the way football works it is difficult to constant keep achieving. They still have some very good players.

“I wont be overthink their form, they have good players, a very experienced group and the manager certainly is. They are in a tough spell, up and down time, but it is rare that teams don’t have that at some point. That has to be parked.”
