Speaking with the media after the game said they were mentally ready for the game as their aim was to score.
“Getting to a final is really happy moment. I’m extremely pleased with the team and very proud of this project. The club is recognised internationally but we needed to take that step and play in a final. It was an extremely tough task, but we did it.
“We put in a great performance in the first leg. Especially in the first half. Going into the second leg with the score at 2-1, it was very tight and we were mentally ready that here we needed to do something important. Our aim was to score. We didn’t manage to do that, but we didn’t concede either, and that has taken us to the final.
“Villarreal are a club that have broken a lot of barriers throughout history. They did it went they were promoted to the top flight, they got to semi-finals, they finished second in LaLiga. Now we’ve broken another barrier. That has a lot of merit. The club has a great project, and a town that is behind this team.”
