Antonio Conte believes Eric Dier can make it into the Englad squad for the World cup in Qatar slams Arteta over fixtures shedule complaint.
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte believes Eric Dier is one of the best defenders in the Premier League right now.
Conte claims Dier is good enough to make the England squad for the World cup in Qatar but the defender was left out of Southgate’s list for upcoming friendlies.
“He’s working very hard and in this moment he’s one of the best defenders in the league,” Conte said.
“He has also big space to improve his performance and his quality and to become a stronger and stronger player.
“At the moment, Southgate is preparing and he has a plan to prepare a squad for the World Cup in December. He knows Eric very well and he has (no need) to discover Eric because he was previously in the national team.
“I’m sure if Eric continues to play this way, he has a great possibility to go to the World Cup because, I repeat, he’s one of the best defenders in this league.”
Meanwhile, Conte hit out at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta following his complaint about the Gunners fixture schedule.
The Gunners boss said it was unfair that the Premier League organised two games for Saturday 12:30pm after Wednesday night matches.
The Tottenham boss however said Arsenal should have no complaints after getting the north London derby postponed.
In January they asked the game to be rearranged due to issues with covid, injuries and players on international duty.
Conte said: “Arteta should remember the game postponed. Tottenham-Arsenal.
“In general, I think my answer is enough. If someone wants to think about fair or unfair. We postponed the game, Tottenham-Arsenal. I don’t forget this. And it’s not right to speak about fair or unfair.”
