Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior seek to achieve the success of United class of ’92 at his new club side as he speak ahead of Blues game in the FA cup.

New Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has set a high bar for his tenure at Stamford Bridge, suggesting the club’s current youthful revolution could mirror the legendary success of Manchester United’s “Class of ’92.” Speaking ahead of his first official match against Charlton Athletic, the 41-year-old expressed unwavering faith in the project he has inherited.

Chelsea currently boasts the youngest squad in the Premier League, a fact that led some to question the group’s lack of veteran leadership. However, Rosenior—who managed a similarly young side at Strasbourg—views this as a strength rather than a liability. Drawing parallels to the dominant United teams of the 1990s, he noted,

“I remember Sir Alex Ferguson was brave enough to put six, seven players between the ages of 19 and 21 in his team, in a title-winning team, because he believed in them.” He argued that such historical dominance only occurs when a manager shows that specific level of courage, adding, “Without that bravery, that does not happen.”

While Rosenior admitted the comparison is not yet a reality, he insisted the raw materials are present at Cobham. “There is potential for that here. There is potential. It’s not reality. There is potential for that,” he said. He specifically pointed to high-caliber talents like “Moisés Caicedo or Enzo Fernández or Cole Palmer or Reece James” as world-class individuals who have already tasted success despite their age.

The manager also pushed back on the idea that the team lacks guidance, highlighting that “Enzo has won the World Cup winner and is a leader in the group. Reece has won titles and many things.” For Rosenior, the ultimate goal is clear:

“The project here is about winning games.” As he prepares for his debut in the FA Cup third round, his ambition remains uncapped. “I will not limit the ambition of the club,” he concluded, fueled by the desire to turn Chelsea’s youth into a trophy-winning machine.
