Steven Gerrard backed to pick up Leeds United job
Danny Mills is backing Steven Gerrard to be the next Leeds United manager.
Former Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has been back to take the Leeds United job after they relegated from the Premier League.
Leeds United are looking for a new manager following their relegation to the Championship, with Sam Allardyce’s brief stint coming to an end.
Speaking to the Media, Mills said: “I think he’s a good young manager with a point to prove. He’s got passion, drive, desire, he can attract players and he’s shown, certainly at Rangers, he will give young players a chance.
“Who else are Leeds looking at?
“Steven Gerrard made bold decisions and unfortunately nearly every one of the new signings got injured in the first few weeks of the season, so then you’re struggling.
“You’ve then got to turn to players who you’ve said ‘I don’t really fancy you, you’re not part of my plans because I’ve brought these players in, and ah now I need you’.
“He’ll maybe manage that better next time around, but what can you do with that. Sometimes you are just unfortunate.
“He will be a good manager, he can dip into his contacts that he has. If you’re a young player now and you think he’s had a few months at Aston Villa that weren’t great.
“If Steven Gerrard comes knocking and says ‘I want you to play for me’, you’re going to be playing in front of 40,000 people every week. What’s not to like about that?”
