West Ham reach first semifinal in 46years and the first leg ended in disappointment as David Moyes claims his side failed to show quality against German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

West Ham manager David Moyes admits his side didn’t perform up to expectation against German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal.

The Hammer lost 2-1 in a tough match that have them at the edge of disadvantage ahead of their return leg in Germany.

The 2-1 defeat was the first European semifinal for West Ham in 46years but ended in disappointment for the London club.

Moyes admits his side didn’t show enough quality in the game in order to get a victory as they made defensive errors in the match.

Eintracht stunned West Ham to take the lead inside the first minute through Ansgar Knauff’s header, although Michail Antonio levelled the tie 20 minutes later.

However, the visitors retook the lead in the second half through Daichi Kamada, with Moyes left to mull over opportunities missed, including hitting the woodwork three times.

“We’ve got a lot to do,” he said. “We’ve got to show a lot more quality than we did tonight.

“We didn’t show enough quality, especially in the final third when we had moments to do so and a couple of times we turned off, obviously for the goals.

“So, a lot of those things will need to brighten up and be better.”
