Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has nothing but praise for his players for the performance against Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford.
The Premier League game which ended 2-0 in favour of the Red Devils saw them dominated the game from beginning to the end of the game.
Second half goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes were enough for Ten Hag’s men to get three points.
Speaking after the game Erik Ten Hag stated that he is pleased with the team’s performance and they should have got more goals in the match.
“Against a solid and magnificent Tottenham”, Ten Hag said when asked how good United were. “We have played and performed very well. Today was a brilliant performance. We scored two goals and I think we should have scored three or four goals.
“I’m pleased with the team – it was the best team performance so far this season. You can see today that we are developing. We are getting better every time on the pitch. It was enjoyable to see this.”
Manchester United created lots of chances against Newcastle United last week but they were unable to find the back of the net.
Speaking about the performance Ten Hag believes the team are progressing and give credit to the players.
“I think so but it’s not about me”, Ten Hag said when asked if it was the best performance under him. “It was the best performance of the team in the season. That is what you want. You want to see the progress in the team and that is what I’ve seen today but not only today.
“In many games, I’ve seen it. Sunday, we were all disappointed with Sunday’s game, but we had a clean sheet, as we did today. So we see now when you want to get success, you have to defend proactively and do it with 11. It’s what we are doing, acting as a team and it is always the base to get success in the season.”
Fred scored the first goal against Tottenham and Erik Ten Hag revealed the message he gave him before the game.
“I said to him before the match: ‘Are you ready?’ and he said: ‘I am always ready’. And he proved it. It was a magnificent performance from Fred, that’s clear.”
