Eriksen pinpoint the difference in United first win
Christian Eriksen has pinpointed the difference in the team in their victory over Liverpool as Bruno challenge teammate to use victory as a springboard for success this season.
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has pinpointed the difference in the team in their first win of the season.
Following two defeats for the Red Devils Manchester United claimed a 2-1 victory over rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Goals from England duo Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford made the difference in the game before Mo Salah got one back for the Reds.
Speaking to media on what was different in the game against Liverpool Eriksen said: “I think our intensity compared to the Brentford game [was the biggest difference],” he said post-match to club media.
“Obviously, we made a few mistakes against them that gave them the advantage and, today, we started on the front foot and were the better team in the first half.”
Eriksen has also applauded the togetherness in the squad that he feels both on and off the pitch.
“I think it [the togetherness] started after losing two games,” he admitted.
“This has been about coming together and getting back to the basics. We needed to show that we were better doing the basics and I think we did that today.”
He added: “Of course, with the South American and a bit of Spanish style there was a lot of passion towards the defensive side, but also the offensive side, we tried to do whatever we could.
“We have some very quick players and how we played today, and how Liverpool play, suited us as well.
“It’s great to play with players who want to play football and run.”
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes has challenged his teammate to use the victory as a springboard for more victory in the league.
“Obviously it’s a great night and a great result, something we expect from Manchester United,” he told the media.
“To get these three points is massive for us but now this game is done. We have to look forward and carry on this attitude, this passion and this character that we showed tonight into the next games.
“The attitude that we showed tonight, the passion that we showed, the desire to win the game, not that we didn’t show it before, but in the last two games we could add something more and today was the day we showed all of that together with the quality of the players.”
