Manchester United will conduct an internal investigation to determine Mason Greenwood’s future.
Manchester United has stated that investigation will be conducted in other to determine the future of the academy product with the club.
Charges including attempted rape and assault against the young United forward have been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, it was announced on Thursday.
Manchester United released a statement shortly after the charges were dropped against Greenwood and it reads: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
Greenwood has been suspended by United since news of his arrest in January last year was confirmed.
He will not return to playing or training while United carry out their own internal investigation.
The Premier League club hope to gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the allegations made against Greenwood before determining their next steps.
It is unclear how long this will take and was not commenced until now to avoid prejudicing criminal proceedings.
