Barcelona only wants Aubameyang for free
Chelsea boss Graham Potter has confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be leaving the club until June. Barcelona will try and get him in in the summer only if he leaves on a free and they manage to get him to accept a lower wage.
Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has stated that the Blues forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be leaving the club for the rest of the season and insists he will remain in the squad for at least until June.
The former Arsenal player has not feature in games recently for the Blues and also not in the Champions League sqaud for Chelsea.
The Gabonnese player wanted to leave the club during the January transfer window but FIFA rule held him back at his club as he will not be able to play for three clubs in the same season following his move from Barcelona in he summer.
“Aubameyang is not ending his time with us. He hasn’t payed because there are other players we want to see in the short term, but he could have chances in the future”, the English boss said in the press room.
He then went on to explain what he meant: “He hasn’t been coming on, but he’s training well and he’ll definitely get his chance. He’s working with the rest of his teammates and we’re happy with him”.
What is for sure is that ‘Auba’ will stay at the Blues and will only leave in the summer, when he could go to FC Barcelona, who were about to sign him in January.
Despite having offers from the MLS, for example, the Gabonese striker is thought to be wanting to return to the Catalan side, but for Xavi’s side, he’s not yet a priority.
However, according to ‘Sport’, Barca would be open to welcoming him only if he left Chelsea on a free and if they could get him to cut his wages.
