Salah Makes Liverpool History with Dominant 6-1 Europa League Rout
In a commanding 6-1 victory over Sparta Prague, Mohamed Salah etched his name into Liverpool’s annals, becoming the first player in the club’s history to score at least 20 goals in seven consecutive seasons.
Liverpool made history as they thrashed Sparta Prague 6-1, securing a spot in the Europa League quarterfinals with an impressive 11-2 aggregate victory.
Mohamed Salah was the star of the show, scoring his 20th goal of the season and becoming the first Liverpool player to achieve at least 20 goals in seven consecutive seasons.
Additionally, Salah recorded three assists, marking his sixth career season with 20 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, a feat matched by only Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Cristiano Ronaldo in the 21st century.
Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated from the start, scoring four goals in the opening 14 minutes at Anfield. Darwin Núñez opened the scoring, followed by 19-year-old Bobby Clark netting his first senior goal for Liverpool.
Salah then added his name to the scoresheet before assisting Cody Gakpo to make it 4-0. Despite a lone goal from Veljko Birmancevic for Sparta, Liverpool continued their onslaught with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Gakpo’s second of the night.
Klopp praised his team’s performance, stating, “It was on us to decide how good a game it would be and obviously we enjoyed playing football, some fantastic goals as well early on.”
Salah’s return to the starting lineup after recovering from a hamstring injury further bolstered Liverpool’s attack, showcasing their depth and firepower as they progress in the tournament.
