Doc Rivers says he couldn’t care less about Ben Simmons’ shooting struggles

Doc Rivers arrived in Philadelphia with the goal of changing the narrative for the Sixers, especially the conversation around Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Simmons’ inability to shoot from distance has become a talking point for Philadelphia, especially when it comes to winning an NBA title.

However, Rivers does not care about Simmons’ shooting, highlighting his playmaking ability recalling how Rajon Rondo -a non-shooting guard- played a vital role in Celtics’ 2008 title run.

(via UPROXX.com):

“It think it’s overdone,” he said. “I couldn’t care less about Ben’s shooting. And I’m being honest. I want Ben to be a player. Ben’s a great basketball player. Ben makes plays. Ben has vision that only 5-10 guys in the NBA have. And he has it with size.

We won a world championship in Boston with Rajon Rondo, who they quote-unquote said you can’t win with a non-shooting guard on the floor. Well, we didn’t have a problem winning at all that year.”

The Sixers attempted to bring more shooting in the roster this season with Danny Green and Seth Curry. However, Philadelphia will need more than that to become a legit title contender.
