Arteta: “We lack urgency but can improve.”
Mikel Arteta admits his side lack that urgercy and composure against Newcastle.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that his side lack urgency against Newcastle but believe his side can improve.
The Gunners defeated Newcastle in the early kick off of the Premier League as goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli gave them the required 3 points.
Speaking after the match Arteta stated that they lack some urgency and composure in the final third to deliver the ball better.
He added that they fail to utilize the attempt they had but had to patient in the second half of the game to get the goals.
Arteta’s word on the game.
“Yeah, after the 2-0 we know we have to go to a different level as a team. We gave too many sloppy balls away and weren’t organised in the press and we allowed them to run a few times and it created a different feeling.
“That’s the moment that we have to give even more, and go for the third or the fourth and make another step forward.”
“We had moments in the first half when we took the game where we wanted, but without really hurting them enough, and not playing with enough urgency and probably quality as well.”
Arteta hails Saka and Martinelli after the two youngster got the goals in the second half of the match.
“The finish and the combination from Bukayo and again the composure that he showed inside the box to place the ball in the right area, it was great. Gabi’s run had great movement and the delivery from Tomi as well.
“The technique is so tough when the ball is flying over your head to keep that ball down and have that quality to finish. It’s impressive.”
Speaking about the top four race in the Premier League Arteta said: “We go game by game. After the defeat at Anfield, obviously you see things in a different perspective maybe, but we’ve been on a good run and we have to carry on going and let’s see where it takes us, but now let’s analyse this game and start to prepare the game against Man United as quick as possible because we don’t have many days.”
