Caicedo & Lavia: Future Potential But needs experience players
According to ex-Chelsea defender William Gallas, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia are promising future players, but he believes Chelsea requires seasoned stars to ensure immediate success.
Gallas acknowledges the potential of both signings but notes a lack of experience in Mauricio Pochettino’s team overall. He emphasizes that Caicedo has a significant amount to demonstrate following his British transfer record-breaking move.
“Caicedo had a great season with Brighton last year,” Gallas told Genting Casino.
“Football has changed though, after just one season in the Premier League, his price has increased dramatically. People are already saying he could be the best player in the Premier League and in Europe, but we must give him time to convince us.
“That is a problem in football, the media are saying after one season he will be the best player in the league.
“Him signing for Chelsea is great, but at the same time there was the potential to have looked at players with more experience.
“The policy of Chelsea is to take on the best young players in the world at the moment. Lavia is 19, but I’m not sure why Chelsea are only looking at young players.
“With only young players, you cannot win the Premier League, as you need experience. Chelsea will not win the Premier League this season.
“The signings of Lavia and Caicedo are good – but they are for the future.”
