Stephen Curry’s Record 3-Point Streak Ends at 268 Games in Warriors’ Win Against Trail Blazers

In a dramatic turn of events, Stephen Curry’s unparalleled 3-point streak came to a surprising halt at 268 consecutive games, marking a historical moment in the NBA.

The Golden State Warriors clinched a 118-114 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers despite Curry’s uncharacteristic 0-for-8 performance from beyond the arc and a 2-for-12 overall showing, resulting in a mere seven points for the star player.

This groundbreaking streak commenced on December 1, 2018, during a clash against the Detroit Pistons. Notably, Curry had previously held the record for the second-longest streak of 157 games.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr emphasized the team’s need to collectively step up, stating, “We can’t rely on Steph to bail us out on every single night.” Kerr highlighted the importance of diversified contributions, acknowledging that Curry has been the linchpin of their performances and urging the team to provide him with more support.

Despite Curry’s atypical performance, the Warriors secured their second consecutive win, propelled by Klay Thompson’s 28-point contribution and Andrew Wiggins’ impressive 25-point, seven-rebound display after being recently relegated from the starting lineup.

Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis also made a mark with 14 points and eight rebounds, aiding the Warriors in achieving back-to-back victories for the first time since early November, following the conclusion of a five-game winning streak.

This setback for Curry, a two-time league MVP, resonates with his prior struggles in crucial moments, notably going 0-for-9 from long range in Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

However, despite these occasional challenges, Curry’s legacy as a prolific 3-point shooter remains unparalleled, evidenced by his recent milestone of surpassing 3,500 3-pointers in his illustrious career.
