Emma Raducanu’s bid at the Miami Open comes to an abrupt halt as the British tennis sensation withdraws from the tournament due to a lower back injury.

British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the Miami Open due to a lower back injury, putting her comeback on hold once again. Scheduled to face China’s Wang Xiyu in the first round, Raducanu’s absence is a setback for fans eagerly anticipating her return to the court. This comes after her recent exit from Indian Wells, where she fell to Aryna Sabalenka in a hard-fought match.

Despite her formidable talent, Raducanu is still seeking her first win against a top-10 player on the WTA Tour. The Miami Open, featuring a 96-player singles field, had granted Raducanu a wildcard entry, highlighting the anticipation surrounding her return to competitive play.

Following an eight-month absence due to surgery on both wrists and an ankle, Raducanu has been diligently working with her childhood coach, Nick Cavaday, to regain her form. However, her injury setback raises questions about her participation in future tournaments, including the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup.

Named in Great Britain’s squad to face France in the qualifying round, Raducanu’s availability for the tournament is now uncertain. Captain Anne Keothavong remains optimistic, emphasizing a “full-strength team” including British No. 1 Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, and Heather Watson.

The Billie Jean King Cup tie holds significant importance, with the winner advancing to the finals and the loser facing the playoffs. Set to be played on indoor clay in Le Portel, the surface mirrors the following week’s tournament in Stuttgart, where Raducanu’s participation was anticipated due to her sponsorship with Porsche. However, her involvement now hangs in the balance.

While Raducanu’s journey in Miami ends prematurely, fans remain hopeful for her swift recovery and return to the court at full strength.
