Erik ten Hag has called for Manchester United to ‘reset and bounce back’ from their 7-0 shellacking at Liverpool on Sunday.

Manchester United manager have called on his players to put the 7-0 trashing from Liverpool on Sunday behind them as the Red Devils will be facing Real Betis in the Europa League.

A week on from winning the Carabao Cup final, the Red Devils were brought back down to earth with an almighty bump in Sunday’s Anfield annihilation.

The group had a debrief on Monday and now United’s attention turns to Thursday’s Europa League last-16 first leg at home to Real Betis.

“We have to set conclusions and we talked about [the game],” Ten Hag has said at his press conference this lunchtime. “We have seen the game, we have to reset and bounce back.”

Asked if the players had let him down, Ten Hag said: “No, we are in the same boat.

“We win together, we lost together. We make a mess on Sunday and we have to deal with it.”

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has rubbished ‘nonsense’ suggestions that Manchester United gave up in Sunday’s humiliating loss at Liverpool.

“We didn’t give up – that’s nonsense,” Rashford said this afternoon. “We were unorganised, yeah. Communication was bad, yeah, that’s why we conceded the goals.

“But it comes down to the fact I believe that everyone was trying to get back into the game that much, we came away from the principles in and out of possession too much.

“I felt like the forwards were trying to press as just the forwards unit – we weren’t connected with the midfield. Then the same with the midfield and defence.

“We were trying to get a grip of the game when it was 2-0 and 3-0. We were talking but I don’t think we were really in agreement of what to do.

“Listen, it’s happened and the only thing we can do is learn from it and move on.

“So, I’m happy and grateful that we have another game quickly because we have an opportunity to take a step forward from the last game and put it behind us.”
