Chelsea should focus on winning the Champions League this season, and sacrifice their Premier League campaign to do it.
Football pundit Danny Murphy stated that the Chelsea have got no chance catching up in the top-four race with the club currently tenth in the table, and their only route back to Europe’s top competition next season is to lift the trophy this term.
The Blues progressed to the next round of the Champions League following their 2-0 win over Dortmund.
“Yes, definitely, they’re never catching up with the top-four positions now,” the ex-midfielder told the media this morning.
“Graham Potter has to be cute and clever now, whoever they draw next he needs to prioritise that.
“When I say that, I mean – depending on what night they play – he’s got to be thinking the midweek Champions League game is bigger than the Prem.
“I’m sure he’s going to want to win Premier League games because it keeps everyone happy, it builds confidence and momentum.
“But he’s got to prioritise the Champions League and with the talent they’ve got, you never know.”
