Gabriel Jesus the perfect No. 9 for Arsenal

Mikel Arteta believes that Gebriel Jesus is the perfect No.9 for Arsenal and he claims the Brazilian can also be utilized different positions.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believe that new forward Gabriel Jesus is the perfect solution to their No. 9 position.

Following the departure of Aubameyang and Lacazette the Gunners needed an experience striker that can help in converting chances.

Arsenal signed Jesus from Manchester City this summer and have kick started his fine form in their preseason game.

The Brazil international scored two against their opponent in the friendly game and then opened the score against Premier League team Everton in their second friendly game.

Speaking to the media after the game Arteta describe Jesus as the perfect No. 9 for the London team.

“He looks really sharp, really dynamic,” Arteta said of Jesus. “(He’s got) a really good understanding with his team-mates straight away. They are looking for him, he’s generating chances, good connections around specific spaces we want to exploit with him especially, and yeah, we’re really happy.”

The Spaniard added that the former Manchester City player can also be utilize in other positions in relation to what their opponent bring.

“Well he’s very versatile, but obviously, the way we would like to develop him, is in that position. But not on his own sometimes, but don’t close that door because Gabby in relation to what the opponent does in certain games we are going to have to use him in different positions. He is open to that and he knows it’s part of his strength as well.”

When asked if the team needs a traditional No. 9 Arteta said: “It depends, look at Harry Kane, look at Haaland. I think at the moment there are certain strikers that are available, they grow, they have their moments in European football.

“It depends on the qualities, another one with completely different qualities scores 45 goals every season. So it’s what is available and what the team needs.”

The Gunners will play Orlando City in on Thursday before playing another Premier League opponent Chelsea in the Florida cup.
