Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insists they must take care of themselves and others as the COVID cases keep increasing.

Sportscliffs.com reported yesterday that Premier League will be meeting with the managers and club captain over their welfare and fixture congestion.

Guardiola laments on how the Covid keep rising and claims people are not following the COVID 19 rules.

The Catalan stated that they want to play premier league but if cases keep rising games needs to be cancelled.

While speaking with the club media Guardiola said: “There are rising cases all around the world. It’s not just Premier League, it’s everywhere.

“Five or six in the last round of fixtures were postponed. It’s a lot. What the Premier League decide with consulting people will be good for us.

“What we want is people stay safe and stay well. Social distance, masks. When I go to the streets, people are not following the rules.

“We must take care, pay attention to these kind of things and protect ourselves and other people.

“The new variant is here and cases are rising. Football is not an exception. Whatever the Premier League decide, we will support.

“Leeds v Liverpool has been postponed. There are cases. This is society. Not just the Premier League.

“It’s everywhere. I see newspapers online. Cases rise. Restaurants cancel dinners.

“It’s everywhere. What we want is to play the Premier League fairly. If there are cases, of course games should be cancelled.

“But I know how the meetings work, everyone looks out for themselves.”

Manchester City will play Leicester City in the Premier League and City manager believes that the game will be a tough one for the Etihad side.

“Leicester remain Leicester,” he said. “They have a top-quality manager with exceptional players in all departments.

“Seasons have high and low periods. The club work well in many senses.

“Recruitment. But sometimes anything can happen, but they have the same value I give to them. They are exceptional from Kasper Schmeichel to Jamie Vardy.”

Speaking on the future on City’s forward Ferran Torres who is on Barcelona’s radar, the manager said the club will not stand in any player’s way.

He further stated that all he want is the happiness of his players and then its very hard to say no to a deal from either Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“I always have the feeling when FC Barcelona and Real Madrid knock on the door it’s hard to say no,” he added.

“In terms of fashion and cities and many reasons.

“When he knocked on my door and said he wants to leave, I said leave.

“I want happiness in my players. If you are not happy, you have to leave. We are not a club where presidents and CEOs say ‘no you have to stay’.

“The players and clubs have to agree, this is business, but if the player wants to leave, they go.

“It’s not just Ferran, it’s everyone. If you want to leave because you will be happier in another place, you have to go.

“The career for a football player is short. If he wants to leave, and the clubs have an agreement, I am happy for him.”
