How good will the Warriors be this season?

From 2019 to 2020, no team had a bigger drop off than the Golden State Warriors. They went from being in the NBA Finals in 2019, to having the worst record in the NBA in 2020. They went from their starting 5 being Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant and Demarcus Cousins, to their starting 5 being Draymond Green, Damion Lee, Willie Cauley-Stein, Glen Robinson and D’Angelo Russell. By far the largest fall from grace in NBA history.

With Klay Thompson unfortunately getting injured once again, he’ll most likely miss this entire season too. Most people have already written the Warriors off for this season but they still have Steph Curry. Only unanimous MVP in league history, Steph Curry.

With Steph being healthy, I think the Warriors will definitely make the Playoffs, no question about it. The Warriors still have Draymond Green, who I think will play a lot better with Steph back healthy, and they picked up Kelly Oubre in the offseason. Oubre has really started coming into his own these past few seasons so I wouldn’t be shocked if we see a breakout season from him. The Warriors also have Andrew Wiggins but I’m not a huge fan of him. The main player I’m going to talk about is Steph.

Since the 2014-15 season, when the Warriors started their dominance, the only player that was consistently on the Warriors was Steph Curry. It’s fair to say he was the heart and soul of the Warriors. One of the biggest criticisms against Steph, though, is that he won’t be able to lead a team himself because he’s always had other stars around him. So this season, Steph will finally have to prove himself and I think he’s up for the challenge.

Most people have forgotten how good Steph really is. But for context, he’s the only unanimous MVP ever and easily the greatest shooter ever. So as far as I’m concerned, any team with Steph Curry on becomes an instant contender and I’d be surprised if the Warriors finish any lower than 4th seed.
