Jack Grealish has revealed his best position in which he can thrive; as he claims the position made his move possible to Manchester City.

Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has revealed his best position that suit his game as he believes that was what facilitate his move to City from Aston Villa.

The former Aston Villa player has not been in the best form for the Etihad side but has opened up on his preferred position.

Grealish has played on the left of the front three in each of his five appearances for City so far this season, helping Pep Guardiola’s side to an unbeaten start in both the Premier League and Champions League.

The 27-year-old considers the role he has recently occupied in the side as one of two where he is at his best creatively.

“What got me the move here was playing on the left-wing,” Grealish said.

“There were times last season where I played as a false nine, I played as a number eight sometimes where Bernardo, Gundo[gan] and Kev [De Bruyne] play.

“I like that position as well and I played there in the past for Villa. I think if you play in that position at City then you see a lot of the ball so I would say the left-wing or a number eight [is his preferred position].

“The attacking players such as me, Erling [Haaland], Phil [Foden], Julian [Alvarez] and Riyad [Mahrez], I think we can all play in different positions.

“I think the three up front is what the manager seems to change the most whether it be the defenders or the midfielders, I think the attackers are the ones he rotates a lot.”

“Not everyone is going to play every single game, we have so much talent up front, but when you are given that chance you have to grab it with both hands and that is what I will try and do.”

The England international revealed that he has been struggling with injuries but hope to catch up with his fitness very soon.

“I started quite well in pre-season, started the first game of the season which we won away at West Ham”, Grealish added. “In the second game I obviously got injured and I have been injured since last week. I have come back and played a few Champions League games.

“I felt like I could have done better in both of them, but I am still trying to catch up on my fitness. I have been injured for a fair bit at the start of the season which wasn’t ideal, but now I am just looking forward, trying to get fit and trying to get my form back.

“Last year I was settling in, but now I want to start performing the way that got me the move here. I did at times last season, maybe not consistent enough and that is something I can improve on this year and hopefully that pays off.”
