Klopp speaks on Alexander Arnold international standing
Jurgen Klopp has react to the International standing of defender Trent Alexander Arnold as questions are asked about the right back defending.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had his say on the international standing of his defender Trent Alexander Arnold.
The Redd defender was called up by the England coach Gareth Southgate but was not utilized for the National League.
Despite being a good playmaker there are questioned about the defending ability of Arnold which stand has a major issue.
Klopp while speaking to the media trashed all the stories about Arnold as he insists that he view the right back differently.
“Obviously, I see him differently – that’s clear”, Klopp told the Liverpool media ahead of the Premier League match against Brighton.
“There are stories out there that all the time people talk about him and say he’s not a good defender. That’s not true, he is a good defender. He doesn’t defend always good – that’s true as well.”
The German claims work are going underground for the improvement of his defending as he claims Arnold is still young and has time to improve.
“That’s what we are working on, he is a young player. He’s 23 and there is space for improvement, definitely”, Klopp added.
“But I think really we only discuss it on the level we discuss it because his offensive impact is so extreme for us. It could be for each team in the world. So from my point of view it’s easy.”
Chelsea have loads of defenders with Reece James, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier also looking for a spot in the England international team ahead of the World Cup.
“England is obviously blessed with a lot of really, really talented players in the similar position and it’s difficult to line them all up together. In this specific case it could work because obviously Reece James can play in a three in the back – [he] did that for Chelsea pretty well”.
