LeBron and Bronny James a  made NBA history by becoming the first father-son duo to share the court during the Lakers’ season opener, thrilling a sold-out crowd in their 110-103 win over the Timberwolves.

LeBron James and his son, Bronny, made history as the first father-son duo to share the court during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The sold-out crowd at the Crypto.com Arena erupted with excitement when the two stepped onto the hardwood together with four minutes remaining in the first half of the Lakers’ 110-103 victory.

The highly anticipated moment came when Lakers coach JJ Redick subbed both LeBron and Bronny into the game as the team held a 51-35 lead. This emotional milestone follows the pair’s earlier appearance together during a pre-season game against the Phoenix Suns, but this official NBA game appearance added historic significance.

“It’s always been family over everything,” LeBron said in a post-game interview alongside Bronny. “I lost a lot of time because of this league, so to be able to have this moment where I’m still working and now alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received, and I’m going to take full advantage of it.”

LeBron, 39, who is now in his 22nd season and remains the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, added 16 points in 35 minutes of action. Bronny, 20, a rookie drafted by the Lakers from the University of Southern California in June, played three minutes in the first half, collecting an offensive rebound but missing both of his field-goal attempts.

Reflecting on the moment, Bronny expressed his gratitude. “Going up to the scorers’ table and checking in for the first time was a crazy moment I will never forget,” he said. “I’m extremely grateful for everything. I was given an amazing opportunity to come into this league, get better every day, and learn every day.”

Watching from courtside were baseball legends Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., who made similar history in Major League Baseball as the only father-son duo to play together, suiting up for the Seattle Mariners in 1990 and 1991.

LeBron’s future in the NBA remains uncertain, though he recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers after Bronny’s arrival. For now, father and son are savoring every moment they get to share on the court, with the league and fans witnessing an extraordinary chapter in basketball history.
