United played better football in the first half against Everton but had a tough second half; Victor Lindelof insists the Reds can do more.

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has stated that the Red Devils wants to play good football and dominate games.

United responded quickly in the first half of the game to defeat Everton 2-1 in their Premier League game with a good performance from the Manchester side.

This was a good response from the Premier League defeat to Manchester City last week as the Reds feel confident winning games again.

Speaking after the game Lindelof said: “We want to keep the ball, we want to play football and we want to dominate games with the ball and I think we showed that a few times in the first half,” Victor told club media following the important win.

“Obviously, they got a great start but I think we showed great character and came into the game and I think especially in the first half we played some really good football.

“Then [in the] second half they made it tough for us, but again we showed great character and we managed to get the three points. Coming from a tough game in Europe and then to come here and to get the three points is massive for us.”

Everton made the game tough for United in the second half as they created chances but couldn’t get the goal: “It was very hard, I mean they have some good players and they get the corners as well” Lindelof added.

“They have some big threats so it was important for us that we just concentrated. We managed to see it through and that was very good for us.”

He added: “In the second half we could have kept the ball a little bit more, but then again, every time they played, they played well and they put some pressure on us. Sometimes it’s about getting the three points and battle it out and we did it today.”

Cristiano Ronaldo replaced Anthony Martial in the first half to net the winner, a goal which was the 700th of his club career.

“[I’m] very happy for him,” he said. “I think his numbers speak for itself. To come in and to perform and to score goals at his age is just remarkable so a fantastic football player and [I’m] very happy for him.”
