Fulham boss Marco Silva is hoping Aleksandar Mitrovic escapes a lengthy ban.

Fulham boss Marco Silva hope his striker Mitrovic will not receive long ban after red card in the FA Cup.

Mitrovic raged at the referee after he awarded Man United a penalty, and sent Willian off, and gave him a shove.

Fulham had three red cards in just 40 seconds, including Silva himself, as they collapsed to a 3-1 defeat in the FA Cup.

“I don’t think so,” Silva said of a potential long ban. “I saw the image of course and I already spoke with Mitro. It is a moment for him to control the emotions.

“Of course he pushed the referee but I didn’t see that being so bad as you are saying, so I hope the people who are going to decide, decide with the fairness the moment deserves.”

Meanwhile, A former Premier League referee has called for Aleksandar Mitrovic to get a 10 game ban.

Ex-top flight official Keith Hackett told talkSPORT: “A three-match ban is insufficient. We’ve got to get to a point of view in the game that putting a hand on an a referee, even without force, is a no-no.

“It is sacrosanct that is shouldn’t happen.

“For me, I think the FA have to stamp down on this and set an example. A 10-match ban has to come into force.”
