Real Madrid has made surprise signing of former Newcastle and Stoke City player Joselu, who returns to the Bernabeu after successful spells at Alaves and Espanyol. With Benzema’s departure, the 33-year-old Spanish striker is expected to lead the attacking line for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid has made a surprising announcement by signing former Newcastle and Stoke City player Joselu. This move marks a return to the Bernabeu for the Spanish striker, who initially joined Los Blancos in 2009.

After spending two seasons with Real Madrid, Joselu was transferred to German club Hoffenheim. However, his time in the Premier League with Stoke and Newcastle did not yield impressive results, leading to his departure from England. He subsequently returned to Spain, signing with Alaves in 2019, where his career began to flourish.

During his three-year tenure at Alaves, Joselu showcased his abilities, scoring a total of 36 goals. Following his successful spell, he made a move to Espanyol last summer, where he continued to shine, netting 17 goals in 37 games this season.

Notably, Joselu was part of the Spain national team that clinched the UEFA Nations League championship by defeating Croatia in a penalty shootout, with the striker contributing a goal during the shootout.

Now, at the age of 33, Joselu has returned to Real Madrid on a loan deal. With Karim Benzema’s departure, the Spanish forward is expected to lead the attacking line for Los Blancos in the upcoming season.
