Smith Rowe to miss derby after surgery
Smith Rowe has undergone surgery and will return after the FIFA World cup.
Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe will miss the game against Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday after undergoing surgery.
According to reports, Smith Rowe have been suffering for groin problem and has limited him to four substitute appearance this season.
He suffered set back during his warm up in the 3-1 Premier League defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Arsenal official statement on Smith Rowe read: “Following a significant setback at our Premier League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 4, and after further specialist consultations and discussions with our medical team, Emile underwent surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his groin.
“This successful surgery took place in London in the past few days and Emile’s rehabilitation programme is already underway. We are hopeful that Emile will return to full training in December.
“Everyone at the club will now be supporting and working hard with Emile to get him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Speaking about Smith Rowe’s issue following the incident at Old Trafford, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “I’m concerned about the fact that we don’t have him available and when he’s been trying to train he’s not been feeling 100% or pain free.
“This is the main concern. We have to find a solution to that and we are trying to do so.”
The Gunners are leading the Premier League table and will host North London rival Tottenham in the Premier League.
