Erik Ten Hag claims new signing Casemiro has being in Manchester United all along, the Brazilian claims his work will not change on the pitch.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag claims they have former Real Madrid player Casemiro on their list all along.
The Red Devils have been in transfer market for midfielders following the departure of Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic.
Barcelona midfielder Frankie De Jong has been on the radar of the former Ajax boss as he believes the Dutch midfielder possesses quality.
Following the first two defeat in the Premier League Manchester United shifted their interest and signed Brazilian Casemiro instead.
The Brazilian’s deal didn’t take long and was unveiled before their victory against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Speaking with the media during the press conference ahead of Southampton game Erik Ten Hag stated that: “We have a list, so we have options. He was always on, but we didn’t know if he would be available, so in the moment we get signals, we get proactive, we get it done and we are really happy with that of course.”
Casemiro is known for is tackle and also has the ability to break opponent’s attack in games like he has done for Real Madrid in the past years.
Ten Hag believes the Brazilian is like a cement between stones and his presence on the pitch helps other players play well.
“I think he is the cement between the stones, and he can let other players play really well because he is a leader, he is really good with the strategies and he can play a ball as well, he is really intelligent, he brings a lot into the game. He will help us, in between, he will be the link, a really important role and I’m really happy to have that role now occupied in our squad.”
Meanwhile, Casemiro will be in contention to make is debut against Southampton in the early kick off of the premier league.
The Brazilian stated during his interview that he only changed club but is work on the pitch will not change as he claims he ready to play for United.
“My work will not change”, Casemiro said. “Just changing clubs, after so much time at Real, makes my stomach flutter. But it’s what I said, the illusion of being here, the will, the happiness. I don’t know how to express it very well, of all the words, I think illusion is what can describe the feeling of being here.
“The feeling of being in a big club and being able to play in a big league like the Premier League is very good and very important.
“My style of play, everyone knows, I don’t have to repeat it over and over again. But, as I’ve said, I want to help my team-mates, I want to help Manchester, the coaching staff. If I have to act in another role, I have no problem, I’m more of a soldier. Everyone knows my quality. Everyone knows my great success for being here, everyone knows me, I’m here to help.”
Manchester United will visit Southampton for their fourth Premier League game following their first victory against Klopp’s men on Monday.
