United boosted their top four chance in the Premier League but Erik Ten Hag claims his side needs to work smart and maintain momentum.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag believed his side was lucky against Bournemouth last night after David De Gea came through and made saves in the game.

The Red Devils got another three points, clean sheet and three goals at Old Trafford in the Premier league.

United are now 9 points behind league leaders and fourth place behind Newcastle United with a game lesser than the Magpies.

Speaking after the game at Old Trafford the Dutch claims his side needs to work smarter in games as he claims it was not their best game.

“It’s true. It was 3-0 and I am happy with that. This is quite clear. But today was not our best game.” Ten Hag told the media after the game.

“We need to be smart as a team and make great goals but sometimes we are lucky. Great saves from David but play a little bit more smart and as a team and, finally, we ended up with two departments. One attacking one and one defending one.”

Casemiro, Shaw and Rashford all found the back of the net and the manager has credited the players especially the left back who led the counter attack to the second goal.

“I am happy with the set-play,” Ten Hag added, “we invest a lot in that. It was a great goal from Casemiro but the counter with Luke [Shaw was superb].

“It was a good pass from [Alejandro] Garnacho but he [Shaw] set it up by himself by taking it forward. He was really dynamic with a lot of speed but also all the offensive players make the right movements and it was a good finish. We are really happy with that. Then the last goal was good also. Good pass from Luke, great movement from Bruno [Fernandes] and then the lay-off.”

Manchester United will be in action again when the face Everton in the FA Cup this weekend.
