The Qatar World cup is fast approaching and different nations are all prepared to participate in the prestigious tournament.
Major leagues are now on break as they have given their players the time to fully focus on their participation in the World cup.
Like we all know that the World cup give birth to new stars and also provide a challenge for those that are participating.
However, despite the excitement of the tournament in Qatar, there are top players that are set to miss the world cup.
Erling Haaland
The Manchester City star Erling Haaland will not be playing in the World Cup as his country did not qualify for the tournament. The former Borussia Dortmund side have made name for himself since he joined the Premier League defending champion this summer, bagging goals for Manchester City and also breaking records in the English Premier League. It is sad not to the kind of player in the world cup.
Sergio Ramos
The Spanish international will not be playing in the World Cup after he was not selected by the Spain’s coach Luis Enrique. The defender has been a vital player for Spain in the past years before moving the French Ligue 1 from Real Madrid. Ramos has also helped Spain win that competition in the past as he was in the team that won the 2010 world cup.
Thiago Alcantara
Just like Sergio Ramos another Spanish star that will not play in the World cup is Liverpool’s midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The Spanish player was also not selected by the coach due to his injury woes with the club. Thiago Alcantara have helped Liverpool boss the midfielder in the Premier league and with playmaking ability it is sad not to see the player feature in the World cup game.
Mohammed Salah
The Egyptian star will miss out in the World cup games after his country crash out against Senegal. Just like they fell against the Senegalese in the AFCON tournament Salah couldn’t lead his side to victory in the World cup qualifier.
Victor Osimhen
The Napoli striker who is good at finding the back of the net couldn’t score a goal in the world cup qualifier to help is side defeat Ghana. Nigeria crashed out of the World cup after playing a 1-1 draw against the Ghanaian team in Abuja and was out of the tournament with an away goal.
Federico Chiesa
The Italian played a part in the Euro 2020, helping his side claim the tournament but will not be seen at the world cup after Italy lose their playoff against North Macedonia.
Marco Verratti
Just like his countryman, Verratti will miss the World cup in Qatar after Italy didn’t qualify for the tournament.
Martin Odegaard
The midfielder has been phenomenal with Arsenal this season, playing crucial part under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League and the Europa league this season but Odegaard will not be playing in the World cup in Qatar after Norway missed out of the tournament.
Zlatan Ibrahimovich
The AC Milan striker has given himself several names in football, like calling himself a god or even a Lion, but Ibrahimovic will be watching the World Cup from him home after Sweden didn’t qualify for the Word cup tournament.
Luis Diaz
The Liverpool winger will also not travel to Qatar to play in the World cup as Colombia didn’t qualify for the World cup.
Riyad Mahrez
The big stage player will not be in the World cup this month, The Manchester City player who is known for his dribbling style and scoring goals from inside and outside the box lost the play-off to Cameroon.
