Barcelona chance of qualifying for the round of 16 in the Champions League is in doubt as Xavi Hernandez says he will take full resposibility.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has taken responsibility for their Champions League result against Italian side Inter Milan.

Barcelona played 3-3 draw against Inter Milan in the group stage of the Champions League as they put their chance of qualifying in doubt.

The Spanish side are in third position in their group, 3 points behind Inter Milan and 8 points against Bayern Munich.

Speaking after their Champions League game against Inter Milan Xavi said: “When you have the game in your hands, we had it in Munich, in Milan and here… these are our mistakes.

“Football is a game of errors and we must always minimize them. We have not defended well. The intensity has been excellent in the first half, but we have not maintained it. Errors are expensive in the Champions League. Errors in defense have cost us the match.

“The approach has been good. If the defense fails, I fail. If Piqué, Busquets, Pedri or Dembélé fail, I fail as a coach. I take full responsibility when the player fails. They have not come out with the level of activation that we should have in the part two. We take responsibility”.

The former midfielder stated that the need to make amendment stating that: “Minimize errors both for effectiveness, in Bayern’s field, in Milan we better not talk and today punctual defensive line”.

Xavi insists it is a huge blow for them but says they need to shift focus to their La Liga match against Real Madrid this weekend.

“It’s a very hard blow, it was cruel. Now we have to think about Madrid, about the Clásico. We’ll recover tomorrow for Sunday to try to beat Real Madrid, the Bernabéu.

“There are other competitions left, we put aside the Champions League and focus on LaLiga, which We want to remain leaders. In the Champions League we haven’t given the best version due to our mistakes”.
