Xavi blames pitch condition for Europa League draw
Xavi Hernandez blames the pitch for their struggle againsts German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League as he insists it will be a different game in the return leg.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez blames the pitch condition for their 1-1 draw against German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
The Spanish side had to settle for draw in the first leg of the Europa League coming behind from a goal down.
Xavi, after the match blames the pitch for their lack of performance in the game and insists there will be a better pitch for the return leg.
He added that the German team were too physical and strong which made it difficult for them as well.
Xavi has now stated that it will be a different game when the German team visit them at the Camp Nou.
“They are physically strong, dangerous on the counter-attack, and they created [chances] but were not able to take advantage of them.
“It’s a difficult pitch, a complicated pitch [to play on]. The grass wasn’t in the best condition, and it made it difficult for us.
“I think the pitch will be better for the second leg. Today the ball did not move well. That’s another reality and it costs us. You had to do one more touch and everything slowed down.
“Well, at the Camp Nou, it will be different.”
