Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk will study the Tyson Fury fight when the Gypsy King finally meets with Dillian Whyte.
Oleksandr Usyk has hinted an undisputed fight with Tyson Fury after his match with Anthony Joshua.
The Ukrainian is set to defend his WBA, WBO and IBF belts against Anthony Joshua in summer after he downed the Brit and, against the odds, stripped away his titles in stunning fashion in London last September.
Sportscliffs understands that the 35-year-old won’t be fully focused on his own session as he will reportedly be paying close attention to Fury’s UK homecoming.
Whyte finally gets his shot at a world title and a long-awaited clash with Fury as the two meet in a British blockbuster at Wembley on Saturday.
Usyk’s team has confirmed they will be in the capital at the weekend to watch Fury in action.
“Definitely yes [we will be watching the fight],” Alexander Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, told Sky Sports.
“Egis Klimas [Usyk’s manager] and myself plan to attend the event and watch it from ringside.
“At Usyk’s training camp, he will watch and study the fight on TV.”
Fury had previously stated that he will retire after his world heavyweight title defence against Whyte but reversed his statement, leaving room for an undisputed fight in the future.
If Fury defeat Whyte then he could turn his focus to a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship against the winner of this summer’s battle for the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts between Joshua and Usyk.
“To be honest with you I am only thinking about Dillian Whyte, I am not thinking about retirement,” he said.
“That will come after the fight, we will think about what will happen and what the future will hold for me.
“At the minute, I have a massive task in Dillian. A lot of people are underestimating Dillian Whyte but not me. I am giving him the respect he deserves throughout the training camp.
“I am not underestimating this guy, I give him the respect like I did for Deontay Wilder and everyone else.”
Usyk’s own bout with Joshua could be pushed back according to reports, after the scheduling didn’t fall through.
