Rockets’ Chris Clemons tears Achilles

Houston Rockets guard Chris Clemons is believed to have suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in the team’s preseason game against the San Antonio Spurs, according to Shams Charania.

Clemons will have an MRI on Wednesday morning to confirm the diagnosis that will end his season.

After knocking down a three-pointer, Clemons ran back on defense before tweaking and grabbing his ankle.

The 23-year-old then had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair.

Clemons was expected to have an important role for the Rockets, as he would’ve provided depth at point guard behind John Wall, who the Rockets plan to be careful with coming off an Achilles injury of his own.

Last season, Clemons averaged 4.9 points per game (8.8 minutes per game) in 33 games.
