Carlo Ancelotti claims the massive victory against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League is due to the magical effect of the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti claims that the Bernabeu effect gave them the victory against Paris Saint Germain in the return leg.

It was a difficult one for the Spanish side after losing to PSG in the first leg and also conceded first in the first half of the game.

Things change for Madrid when Karim Benzema first goal in the second half gave the Bernabeu side the energy to press more and then the French goes on to score two goals more.

Speaking after the game in the Press conference Ancelotti said: “How can it be explained? Well, we had to dig in a lot, but we held on. In the first half it was difficult to win the ball back, we tried to press them and some good pressing by Karim gave us the chance to score the first. Then the magic of this stadium and these fans appeared and that gave us the energy and allowed us to finish off the opposition, because there was only one team on the pitch in the final 30 minutes.

“Obviously, we’ll all delighted. There aren’t many words to say at this moment, I prefer not to talk after the games. I think we played well tonight. I think the madridistas will be really happy tonight and that’s what’s most important”.

Ancelotti went on to explain is changes in the game as he the substitute was not just for tactics but to add more fresh legs to the game.

“They were important because they came on at a time to change the pattern of the game. The freshness of Camavinga and Rodrygo really helped the team. It wasn’t just a tactical change, it was to give us more energy in the middle because Camavinga played with so much energy and they didn’t have any left”.

The Italian heap praises on Benzema and Modric for their effort in the game and claims he is lucky to have them in the team.

“I’m lucky enough to have them playing for this club. Karim got an injury and we struggled, but he’s back now. And Luka is still immense in every game. He’s doing a fantastic job wherever he plays, on the left, sometimes on the right, he’s making extremely valuable contributions”.
