Carlo Ancelotti claims setting up the team wrongly against Barcelona but insists they have to stay focus in the title race.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti claims he didn’t set up the team good enough to win the game against Barcelona.

Real Madrid suffers defeat in the hands of Xavi’s Barcelona after 4 goals was put past them in the match.

He admitted that Barcelona was the better side in the game as he insists he got it wrong in the game at Santiago Bernaneu.

He further stated that they need to stay focus and keep calm as he claims the defeat was a painful one.

“Playing Modrić as a number 10 was intended to help play out from the back and find space behind the line with Rodrygo, Valverde and Vini Jr. The set up didn’t work. I didn’t set up the team good enough to get to win. Barça were better than us and deserved to win.

“It’s not difficult for me to accept that I didn’t set the team up well. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don’t. I got it wrong in this game, but I’m not going to make a big thing out of it. It’s a defeat that hits us hard, we know how important a match against Barcelona is, especially for the fans”.

“We’re really sorry for the performance, but we have to keep going, focused on the next two weeks and work hard. We have to stay calm and keep our heads because this loss is very painful, but we have to remember that we’re nine points clear of second place.

“We have to stay well-balanced. The break coming up is good for us. We can get Karim and Mendy back involved. We’ve got time to absorb this defeat, which is a very painful one, as I said, but we have to stay focused”.
