Cody Gakpo is set to make is debut against Wolves in the FA Cup following his move from PSV.

Liverpool’s new signing Cody Gakpo could make his debut for the Reds against Wolves in the FA cup tie on Saturday.

The former PSV winger made a move from the Eredivisie during the transfer window and he is yet to feature in a game.

The Dutch was present in the stadium when Liverpool lost their Premier League match to Brentford last week.

Speaking ahead of the FA cup this weekend Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Yes, he is in contention. He will be involved in the squad, of course. How exactly we will have to decide in the next few hours, but that’s fine.

“First impressions of him are brilliant. With all these things, injured strikers and stuff like this, then you see a guy who is obviously a natural footballer on the pitch and knows where the goal is, it is a lift for everybody.

“So, that’s cool and somehow he will be involved, definitely.”

When asked about Gakpo’s potential impact and similarity to Luis Diaz, Klopp said:” He trained now, he had a few days where he was allowed to train but not with the team. Now two days with the team, I think the sessions you could see they are intense for him because [it’s] different. Not more intense, but everything what is new, you feel it a bit more. Very positive about him, very.

“But I’m not sure if it’s now helpful that we compare him – Lucho’s impact was really special, to be honest. We could swap round a little bit, we had difficulties as well injury-wise – that was extremely helpful. That’s how it will be in the moment as well. But Cody gets the same amount of time like each player here to settle in.

“Offensively it’s not that easy, he comes from a different league – that’s always difficult. It was for Lucho as well but then you don’t have to compare them. But we expect a positive impact, definitely.”
