United boosted with the return of Christian Eriksen but will miss Luke Shaw ahead of Everton clash at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has confirmed the return of midfielder Christian Eriksen to the squad.

The Dane has been a long time absentee but is ready to contend to feature against Everton in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Shaw was withdrawn during United 1-0 victory over Brentford on Wednesday evening and has thus been ruled out of the contest with Sean Dyche’s side.

“Luke Shaw is not available for tomorrow,” began the boss. “And we have to see how it progresses in the coming week.

“The good news is Christian Eriksen is back in training and he will be back tomorrow in the squad.”

Ten Hag expressed his delight at being able to welcome the 31-year-old back into the fold this weekend.

“I think it was not for nothing,” he said of Eriksen’s injury. “I was so angry about that tackle and he was away – at first we feared we had lost him for the whole season but he worked very well.

“I think the medical department did really well and in togetherness he is already returning to the squad and so is available for the final stages of the season. We are very pleased with that.”

Elsewhere, Casemiro will serve the final match of his four-game ban, and therefore won’t be included in the United squad against Dyche’s side.
