Gerrard disappointed to let 2 points slip off their hands
Aston Villa had to settle for draw against Burnley as Steven Gerrard showed his frustrastion after the game.
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard felt disappointed to let 2 points slip off their hand following their 1-1 draw against Burnley.
The host gave away a penalty in the first half of the game but drew level in the second half of the game to share points.
Speaking after the game against Burnley Gerrard feels disappointed following their shared points and believes they individual error cost them.
He said: “It was a similar pattern to quite a few games this season where we’re getting in good areas, we’re asking some good questions and managed to score a fantastic goal, but it’s not enough, especially if you’re making individual errors and give a penalty away.
“In these situations, moving forward, we need to be better and show more quality.
“I’m pleased with a lot of our play, we got into some good areas and their ‘keeper’s been on top form tonight.
“I thought we did enough to win the game but I’m disappointed to let two points go again.”
He added: “We threw everything we had at it. We were aggressive with our substitutions at the right times – Danny’s had a big chance, Bertrand’s had a big chance, John McGinn’s had a couple of long-range efforts.
“We had 16,17 efforts tonight and we’ve managed to score one goal, so that’s on us to improve.”
When asked if the fans have made him feel at home, he replied: “They have but they’ve also given me something to think about because our team has been so inconsistent over the course of the season and they’re still there in their numbers supporting us and cheering us on.
“We need to give them more. We need to come back better and stronger and give this crowd more because they’ve been fantastic with me and us since we came in the door, and so have our away fans.
“Three points left to play for, let’s go and fight for everything and then we’ll reset and come back better and stronger.”
