Graham Potter Emerges as Leading Candidate for West Ham job
Graham Potter has emerge as the top candidate for the Hammers job as the former Chelsea boss eye a return to the Premier League.
Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has reportedly become the top choice to replace Julen Lopetegui as West Ham United’s head coach, according to a media correspondent Ben Jacobs. Speaking on Breakfast with Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist, Jacobs revealed that Potter has been offered a short-term contract by the London club, with the possibility of a long-term deal depending on his performance.
West Ham stated that they are waiting for Potter’s response, with the interim arrangement expected to run until the end of the current Premier League season. Despite the temporary nature of the role, the contract would not carry the title of “interim manager,” signaling that Potter would be granted full managerial authority if he accepts the position.
Asked if Potter is the only contender for the job, Jacobs said: “As long as he says yes.
“Potter has been offered a short-term role – it doesn’t mean he’d carry the interim title but it is to say that he’d have a contract until the end of the season initially if he accepts.
“At the moment West Ham are waiting for his answer and then you’d think that there’s that chance to prove himself and get a longer term deal.
“It does create a period of instability but Potter backs himself should he choose to proceed.
“He’s had many offers, including Leicester City, and chosen not to come back into the game since leaving Chelsea but at the moment we can call him the leading candidate and perhaps even the only candidate.”
