Klopp insists Champions League won’t affect summer transfer
Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool’s transfer plans will not be severely affected if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that the Reds would still lure in players even if they fail to qualify for Champions League.
Speaking in his press conference this morning, the Klopp said: “If you want to join the club it’s because you want to achieve something with the club and be part of a team that can challenge for trophies, and if they want to do that they’re welcome.
“It’s not about wanting what has come at the club [trophies] before. I’ve barely been in a situation with a player where everything is going OK, talks are going fine, but then they pull out over no Champions League. That rarely happens.
“We’re still Liverpool and are really attractive for a lot of players, which is why I’m not concerned.
“Of course everything is more difficult without Champions League, that’s how it is, especially long term.
“But apart from that it’s absolutely OK the situation we’re in, in terms of a point of view of convincing [players to join].”
