Manchester United left back Luke Shaw has reacted to the decision of the manager to play him at the centre back postion in matches despite having quality players to fill that role.

The England international played at the centre bac position alongside Raphael Varane against Nottingham Forest and Wolves in the Premier League game.

Shaw, who have helped the team keep clean sheet in both ocassion has stated that he is enjoying his new role given to him by Erik Ten Hag.

“We’ve got a lot of world-class centre-backs here, but I’m not going to lie I’ve been really enjoying it,” Shaw told MUFC media after the game.

“It’s something very different and something I’ve not experienced before. I’ve played at centre-back but in a three and it is totally different.

“The manager has needed me to play there and I’m happy to play wherever, as long as I’m on that pitch.

“It always helps when you’ve got someone with the world-class ability next to me like Varane. He’s spoken to me a lot, not just during the game, but before, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

“And of course the ones that are not playing like Vic and Harry have been extremely helpful to me with giving details on what to do.

“The most important thing for me today was winning and keeping another clean sheet.”

Speaking to BT Sport post-match, Luke declared: “It’s a massive win. They’re always close games whenever we come here. Obviously it’s their first game in the Premier League under a new manager so we knew it was going to be tough, but I think we showed great resilience.

“We had a poor first half, we know that, the manager told us that at half-time. But when you’ve got someone like Marcus Rashford to come on in the second half then you know there is a goal coming.

“It’s a great win and now it’s time to focus on the next one.”
