Pitso Mosimane extends contract with Al Ahly
Pitso Mosimane has extended his contract that will see him till 2024 with the African club Al Ahly of Egypt.
Al Alhy manager Pitso Mosimane has extended his contract with the Egyptian side until 2024.
Mosimane has led to Al Ahly to win the African Champions League twice since joining the club in 2020.
The South African has also been incredible has he has led his side to two consecutive third place in the club world cup.
Mosimane was named the best African Club Coach of the Year, The 57 years has been successful at Al Ahly since his arrival, he has won the Caf Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup.
According to the official website of the African club a statement read “Al Ahly are delighted to announce that Pitso Mosimane has signed a contract extension with the club for two more years.
“The coach and his assistants signed the new contract, ensuring they will remain at the helm until 2024.”
In a separate post on social media, Al Ahly said the renewal should “put an end to all the rumours that were circulating during the previous period”.
Al Ahly currently lead the Egyptian Premier League, two points clear of second-placed Pyramids with a game in hand.
During his time in South Africa, Mosimane also won the African Champions League title with Mamelodi Sundowns, in 2016.
Speaking after their victory over Pyramids FC in the League Mosimane stated that they are determine to win the Egyptian League this season.
He added that he needed sometime in other to transform Al Ahly to a formidable team as he did with Sundowns in South Africa.
“Winning today was the most important thing, Pyramids was the only team I didn’t beat with Al Ahly,” Mosimane said.
“Pyramids games are always difficult, and things weren’t easy in the first half, but we improved in the second half.
“Pyramids are a very good team and they have a very good coach but today we were smarter.
“We knew we had to beat Al-Merreikh and Pyramids, and now we have to go and beat Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.
“We are determined to win the Egyptian Premier League this season, especially after losing it last year.
“Give me more time and you will see how strong Al Ahly can be, It took me eight years with Sundowns to bring out their full potential.
“As a result of the work done over the years, they have a very strong team right now.”
