Ten Hag: Door open for Jadon Sancho return
Erik ten Hag Leaves Door Open for Jadon Sancho’s Return to Manchester United Squad
In a recent development, Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has hinted at a potential return for Jadon Sancho to the squad. However, the possibility remains contingent upon Sancho meeting certain standards and making amends for past issues.
Sancho’s absence from the team since August, stemming from a public disagreement with Ten Hag, has fueled speculations of an impending departure. Sources suggest a potential return to former club Borussia Dortmund, with discussions possibly involving Donyell Malen moving to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag addressed the situation in a news conference, highlighting the importance of player conduct and adherence to the club’s culture. He asserted that Sancho understands the steps required for a potential return and that the ball is in his court.
“It is about a culture and every player has to match certain standards and it was about that,” Ten Hag told a news conference on Friday.
“What will happen there, he knows what he has to do if he wants to return and it is up to him. He knows what he has to do, it is up to him.
“We will see what will happen. It is an internal matter, we will see what will happen.”
Despite ongoing uncertainties surrounding Sancho’s future, Ten Hag expressed minimal expectations for an active January transfer window. He acknowledged the need for readiness if opportunities arise but indicated a lack of significant movement.
One area of concern ahead of the transfer window revolves around the goalkeeping situation, especially with André Onana likely to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations. However, Ten Hag hinted at contentment with the current goalkeeper roster, suggesting satisfaction with the abilities and depth of the goalkeeping group at United.
While Sancho’s situation remains in the balance, Ten Hag’s stance and United’s readiness for potential opportunities underscore the ongoing dynamics and preparation within the club ahead of the transfer window.
