Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka is set to make a triumphant return to professional tennis after a hiatus since September 2022.

Following the birth of her daughter, Shai, in July, Osaka is gearing up to step back onto the court at the Brisbane International in January.

Expressing a mix of nerves, happiness, and excitement, the former world No. 1 tennis star revealed her ambitions, eyeing further Grand Slam victories and aiming to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Osaka, a two-time Australian Open champion, is poised to compete in several prestigious tournaments, including the French Open, Wimbledon, and the anticipated Paris Olympics.

In an interview with NHK, the 26-year-old athlete shared her desire to evolve her game, emphasizing a deeper understanding of tennis.

Reflecting on her previous approach to the sport, Osaka acknowledged a reliance on instinct in the initial phase of her career and now seeks to refine her game strategy.

Her break from tennis in 2021, citing mental health concerns, was a turning point. Osaka’s candidness about her struggles with depression and anxiety led to a shift in her mindset.

As she prepares to return to the court as a mother, she highlighted the newfound responsibility of caring for her daughter, Shai, and expressed a sense of purpose in playing for her.

Osaka’s preparations for her comeback have included rigorous training sessions, notably alongside Nick Kyrgios, indicating her dedication to reclaiming her position in professional tennis.

Joining her at the Brisbane International will be formidable opponents like world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and world No. 4 Elena Rybakina.

With anticipation building for her return, Naomi Osaka’s re-entry into the tennis arena promises to be a captivating and inspiring journey, marked by her determination to excel both on and off the court.
