Ten Hag excited with United latest signings
Christian Erisen and Lisandro Martinez are two new arrival at Manchester United as Erik Ten Hag claims they will surely fit perfectly into his philosophy.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag claims the signing of former Brentford player Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez is a great addition to the squad.
Eriksen joined the Red Devils on a free transfer following an incredible 6 months with the Bees in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Argentina international Martinez also joined the club from Dutch team Ajax as he is familiar with Ten Hag style of play.
The new United manager believe the addition of the two players will add more experience and depth to the squad.
“The fact that we get him, we have him now in our squad, tells everything, because I think we were really selective. It was not the point to get players in, but the right players in. I’m really happy that we succeed with Christian Eriksen,” Ten Hag said.
“The expectations are there. That’s why we get him. I’m convinced he will fit into the squad and in certain facts of our game, he will help us. I’m looking forward to that.”
Eriksen has played in long in the Premier League during his spell at Tottenham and also won the league with Inter Milan.
The journey of Eriksen in the world of football has added to his experience and Ten Hag believe the fans will enjoy watching the midfielder.
“I think it’s quite good. What do you say? He’s an experienced player. He plays in countries abroad, in Italy, in Holland, a long time in England, so he knows the Premier League. It’s an absolute advantage that we have him in,” Ten Hag added.
“I think he is a magnificent football player and I think the fans will enjoy watching him, because he’s creative, he has ideas. I think especially our strikers will also be happy because he’s the one who can involve them in the game.”
The Dutch man further heap praises on Martinez as he called him a warrior who will be admire by the fans also.
He added that though the Argentine has worked under him but insists he will need to work hard to adapt to the new league.
“He’s a warrior and I think the fans will admire him. He has an attitude, fighting spirit. He brings aggressiveness in the game, in a good way. I think we need that. But also, he’s also skilful and he can deal with the ball and he’s left-footed.
“I think it’s important, yeah. I think the Premier League is high intensity, lots of challenges. We need such players. I know from South Americans… I call it grinta. Controlled, aggressive. You need that in your game and with him we have such a player.”
Eriksen and Martinez will not join the squad in Australia as the team will leave immediately after the last friendly game against Crystal Palace.
