Ten Hag fail to reveal Sancho return date
Erik ten Hag has refused to give anything away regarding a potential return date for Jadon Sancho.
Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho was left out of the matchday squad for their Carabao Cup victory over Burnley on Wednesday night, after it was revealed that he was training away from the club.
Asked if he had an update on the winger’s situation, Ten Hag said ‘no’, before being asked for a potential timescale on a return, to which Ten Hag said ‘no’ again.
This comes after the Dutch boss revealed last week that Sancho was not ‘mentally or physically ready’ to feature for United in the coming weeks.
He said: “I don’t think he will be back this week, no.
“We want to bring him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be. Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood. We got a drop of quality level and sometimes you don’t know why or what is causing it.
“That is what we are doing now to try to get him back there. It is a combination of physically and mentally.
“I’ve had several talks with Jadon and I don’t think he will be back this week.
Explaining Sancho’s absence from the group he took to Spain, Ten Hag added: “He wasn’t fit enough to be there. It’s a combination of physically and mentally.”
