Ten Hag hopeful of Antony return ahead of FA cup final
Antony is expected to feature against Manchester City in the FA Cup final this weekend following his injury against Chelsea in the Premier League.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag hope former Ajax player Antony will be available against Manchester City in the FA Cup.
Antony was substituted in the Premier League match against Chelsea and also missed United final game against Fulham at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag side will face Pep Guardiola City at the Wembley stadium on Saturday for the FA Cup decider.
Speaking ahead of the FA Cup final tie Ten Hag stated that he is hopeful for Antony selection.
It is fabulous news for United and the player, particularly as the manager described the injury as looking serious, with the wide man in some pain when leaving the pitch.
There were reports of an ankle problem but the manager has issued a very positive bulletin.
“We have all seen he came out last Thursday, so it’s quite soon, but we think it’s not too bad,” Erik told the BBC in his pre-match interview at Old Trafford. “He probably will be available for the cup final next week.”
And, in his chat with MUTV, Ten Hag added: “We’ve all seen how he came off and it didn’t look great but the first assessment is not too bad, there is a good opportunity he is available for the cup final next week.”
