Van Gaal claims not to hinder Gakpo, Timbre joining United
Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has stated that he never stopped Timber and Gakpo from joining the Red Devils this summer.
Netherland head coach Louis Van Gaal has stated that he never stopped Dutch duo Gakpo and Timber from joining Manchester United.
Report has stated that some of the Dutch player were convinced by the former Manchester United manager to snub the English team.
Former Ajax Manager Erik Ten Hag joined the Red Devils this summer and shown interest in some of the Dutch league player.
Former Ajax players, Antony and Martinez joined Ten Hag at Manchester United.
Ten Hag went for Jurrien Timber and Feyenoord forward Cody Gakpo and with the World Cup set to get underway in November, van Gaal warned Timber and Gakpo it was ‘not so wise’ to leave their current clubs in the summer.
“Many players have called me, that is indeed true,” said Van Gaal, de Telegraaf reports.
“I have always ended the conversations with the words: this is advice, you should always stay close to yourself and make the choice yourself. The storm is now over and I must say that it has been pleasing to me.”
